An old piece of carpet works real good. Go to a second hand store. You may be able to find big pieces there.

A few old sheets. Screw them between two boards on one side, and two on the opposite. Hang one set of the baords up. It won't collapse and works great for stopping blunts. Anyhting pointy... not so much.

Go down to ypur local Farm supply and buy a rubber cow mat , they are 1" thick and 4' x 6' and cost around 36 bucks - it stopped an arrow from completely passing from a 70lb Oneida Eagle Tomcat II @ 20yds - 627 gr. arrow . They work great !
