Tillering Osage ... Pics and advice

Wanted to share some tillering pics with you all.  This is the follow-up posts to the Rookie Osage Build-along. 

I had to do some scraping ont he left limb to get it bending at the fade and the first 10 inches of limb.  After a few times of removing wood and working the limb to register the changes, I have it a lot better, but still not perfect.

The following pics show the limbs and what I have them doing.  I know I am not done yet, but I feel pretty good about where its heading.

Advice / commewnts welcome.

Here she is at about 20 inches.

I was hoping to make some adjustments before bracing the bow.  I am going to have to make a string for it sometime and move one step closer to a good shooting bow.

Tiller looks good so far.  A few suggestions IMO, get it on a shorter string, you already have the limbs moving enough for at least a low brace.  Also, since you have that nice blank open wall behind you, one thing that might help you out, is to draw some straight, level lines on the wall.  Like I said, just my own opinion.

I'd get that stave on a short string asap! I don't even use a long string like that anymore. Your tiller will change once you get it to low brace.  You have plenty of bend at the fades, and if it was me, I'd get the outer half of the limbs bending.

left limb looks a little stiff with a flat spot right out of the fade but not far off at all looking real good. my wall has 1 inch lines on it so i can see tips of both limbs and my draw length. it helps alot for me anyway. thats what i see but it looks good just a little more and you will be slinging wood and pokeing holes. good luck.

i would brace it at about 2"-4"
then pull it now more than necessary to show a problem area or
no more than 5lbs under the intended final draw weight or past the intended draw length
make yourself a tillering gizmo and use that,it will help immensly to find areas that are too stiff or too weak.
you can also take a pic of it at any particular draw length and then put on you computer and check it with windows paint
you do that by sizing the pic approprietly then overlaying a colored eliptical shape ( an oval ) this helps you the same as the gizmo
but allows you to really analyze the tiller

              As for the Wall.....put you down a Pattern like this....makes it a lot easier to see bend problems

thanks to you teaching it to me,my tillering abilities have vastly increased in a much quiker time
