Veterans Bow

In NA culture black and red worn together are veterans colors. Since I am a old USMC grunt I made a Veterans Bow. Red oak with a linen canvas back, 44# at 28".

Semper Fi,  what did you use for the colors?  Natural pigments or paint?

Almost like the colors of the Dress Blues coat

It looks like a beaut, but could we see more photos?

I like the idea of a grunt bow. I'm ex infantry, too, US Army, and have the bad knees and legs to prove it :) Maybe one day I'll do something similar.

The linen canvas back was first sealed with two or three coats of spar varnish and then painted with your basic hardware store waterbased exterior paint. I paint the backs on most of my fabric backed bows. Here are a few.
