Well, after a couple of practice bottle bottoms, I tackled a wine bottle this morning. I began running flakes for quite a bit further than my initial trials! Hmmm, I wonder says I....so I got another piece of aquarium tank and really focused on popping flakes-abrading-popping flakes and here's the result...still a fair bit rough, but it's coming I think. Finally got some convexity to the faces and the flake scars are starting to meet (notice I didn't play with the butt end very much. wanted to work on the main body and flaking more.......critique welcomne of course...that's how we learn. AND, no blood spilled(but close)

you surely attack a wine bottle differant than i do,i usually start with whats on the inside.
by time thats gone i dont care about the bottom anymore lol

Well I use that method as well, but this one was dry and I could only think of one use for that green glass!

Looks great to me!  If you're worried about the ends, thin them first, then work the rest of the point.
  That one looks a heck of a lot better than what I picked up in the fields today.

Nice work. I have yet to work on bottle bottoms. I may have to get the wife to drink more wine so I can knap the bottoms of the bottles. We usually just have cans and boxes laying around.
