Sinew Wrap

I am getting ready to put a sinew wrap on a bow that might or might not be an issue later. 

How do you guys do this wrap?  Or how do you terminate it?  Do you just soak, streatch, dip in hide glue, and wrap around and around and the let the glue to the work holding down the ends?  Or do you wrap it over itself like a serving a string?  I can't imagine you tie a knot in it.

I see these pictures of tips people has installed and see these repairs people have done where the wrapping is so neatly laid.

No need to tuck or tie with sinew, the glue will hold the ends down. I'd use titebond glue though not hide glue. Hide glue is to moisture sensitive.

Yea, I am kinda concerned about using hide glue.  But I want soemthign that drys clear. TB seems to dry brown.

i would use hide glue.  it is strong enough to pull glass splinters and it shrinks while drying exactly like the sinew, this produces and tighter wrap,   the synthetic glues do not shrink the same way.

just seal it with clear nail polish after and you're good to go.

I've done a couple of repairs with sinew, it works great.  I would use hide glue because it will give you the shrinking and holding effect you are looking for. You won't get the contraction with TB3.  I just get it nice and wet in warm glue wrap, then put a thin coat of glue over the wrap.

I do the same as jawgs except after the sinew dries good,a day or 2 I coat it with TT3.
It works great and will hold most problems if they ant to bad. :)

Me too, soak it, wrap it and apply the hide glue.

Ok, so no soaking in the hide glue until it gets limp like when sinewing the back of a bow?
