That sure is a nice find. I was wondering what did the indians use it for, maybe a knife or spear. What do you folkes think it was used for?

Sweet! that flaking is amazing. tom22, they were used primarily for Atlatl points.

If you have to pull the trigger, is it really archery?

Just looking at it again Tim - that is one beautiful point. The collateral flaking is perfect but doesn't look like he spent a lot of time on the little delta's. Hmm, interesting.

I took it to The osage knappin today and several looked at it. Most agreed that it was no completely finished. Basal grinding is absent, and there is no finish flaking on the edges. I concurred with most thinking that is may be a cache blade. There may be more there somwhere?

It is better in real life than those pics show it. Gonna have it athenticated soon. As for now?... It is in a very safe place. ;D

Tom22  I'm not real sure, but those who study this more than myself tell me that they where primarily used for knives.

I got inspired by that blade today and made one - it just don't look exactly right so I'll try again before posting a pic ::).

sweet point Tim...I'm jealous, ha.  I wondered why the edge didn't look finished.
