Looky what I found today!
« on: May 15, 2009, 11:22:52 pm »
Was picking up some rock on one of my fav creeks today. All the big rains here has done alot of washing,so I hit a couple high banks looking for "real points". This is the best point I have ever found, very blessed to have seen this one folks.

Scotts bluff, paleo period,4 7/16" by 1 3/8" and 5 /16"  at the thickest place. the flaking pattern is outragious.

Awesome find Timo....I have hunted them for 20+ years and have yet to find an intact Point....some people can just smell the damned things....I can walk right passed them all and never see a one!!!

Finding such a blade is a blessing in my book!  This one is special and makes you wonder about the fellow who made it and how it came to be there.  All the ones I have ever made are not worth one that I have found.  Thanks for the great pictures!  Joe

Tim that's just awesome!  A blade like that is often a once in a lifetime find. I bet that one's going behind some glass for sure.
Micheal,  I used to hunt some fields that I could pick up as many as 60 complete points in a few hours. Those days are gone though.  Nobody plows much around here any more.  The way it is now I'd be hard pressed to pick up 2 points in a day of walking. :(
Again, great find!  I bet as soon as you found it you quit looking for anything else.
Be thankfull for all you have, because no matter how bad you think it is...it can always be worse.

Man !  That's a beauty.Would have loved to see a picture of that prize in-situ.  That is truly a once in a lifetime find. Worth lots on the collector market.I think I would haft it into a nice handle and make a nice scabbard For it and show that sucker off at the primitive gathering, maybe gut a deer. Yeah, that blade has history. Congrat's  '  Frank
