Composite bamboo backed and belly bows, How?
« on: May 05, 2009, 08:35:49 pm »
I have now gotten addicted to bamboo as a backing and belly material after seeing James (Robustus) bows. I definitely want to try building some of these bows from scratch. Does anyone know how to do this? I think the lams are tapered from the belly out to the tips but how do you do this? How thick should the lams be? Shape of the handle are depicts the shape of the final bow? Also, do you reduce the belly or the sides to tiller them? What about for just a bamboo backing?

I'm busting out with curiosity!!!!

Thanks again to Robustus for putting on a great class on bamboo backing using the Japanese shim method! Learned one heck of a lot and gained a new bow building addiction! Ah, man, I'm a bow building Junkie!!!  ;D
