Osage Take Down

This is my first post but I have been hanging around here for a few years .This is my sixth bow, my second Osage and my first takedown. She’s 60” n.t.n. 55@27 the billets I used had a lot of deflex so I decided to go with a sort of semi-recurve. The weight of the T/D sleeve makes her dead in the hand with absolutely no hand shock. This bow really shoots well and is my best effort yet. I include the following pictures and invite your constructive criticism. Dan

Great looking bow!  I've been thinking about trying that sometime too.  It looks like in the pic, that you are drawing the bow with 4 fingers...do you always do that?

What's to criticize?...this is a very fine bow and practical! Bookmarked, too, for May Self Bow of the Month.

Thanks guys for the kind words. I got the sleeve from 3 Rivers and I also had it and the billets for quite a while trying to figure the best way to pull it off. I just ended up joining the billets together and treating it like any other stave. The billets were plenty long so I figured if I messed up; I’d just cut it off and start over. Just get everything square and flat and round the corners to fit the sleeves. The convince of a takedown is always great but what surprised me was the added weight in the riser made the bow so much more stable and dead in the hand than any of the other  self bows I have shot. Oh and I don’t normally shoot with 4 fingers, I was just trying to get a good full draw pic and that was about the 10th try.

Very nice job,I need to make me another like that,I gave mine away, :'( and I loved that bow.
