May challenge: Cahokia/ Ishi style points.
« on: May 03, 2009, 09:05:56 am »
Thought I'd get this started. Looks like cahokia's are it with a certain grain weight to up the challenge a bit. I'm thinking somewhere between 125 - 150 grains? You guys speak up on what you'd prefer. I don't have my spec book with me at the moment, but these points are triangular, side notched. I know Ishi's looked a lot alike and he liked expanded notch, and I believe the base can be concave? Anybody with more info - feel free :). Here's a few to give an idea.

Here is a link to some originals. I think Most cahokias where on the smaller size but we can make them however big we want. ;D

Great hunting type points.

Figgered i'd have a go at it. Haven't broke a rock in so long I couldn't find my tools  :o
Broke four before I got these two lil' guys done. Sure hard driving flakes on those chips.
Missed the weight too (31 gr & 62 gr), but I was just happy to have two finished  ;D

Hey Roger, good to see ya around! Ain't nothin wrong with them points. They'll get the job done no matter what they weigh :). I'm sitting in a pasture west of Georgetown right now loading rocks. I should have some gray one's to post next week..
