Tiller check please.
« on: April 10, 2009, 04:40:32 pm »
??? I've just reached the draw weight I wanted #45 @ 28" it's actually a little heavier it I figure it will lose a little weight when I begin to sand and finish it.  The bow is a hickory self bow.    I've posted the picture of the bow on photobucket because I couldn't post it here.     photobucket.com/eliseo

Thanks for the help.

Eli.

Youu can resize photos there. Copy and paste the IMG CODE in the post.
Looks like it needs a bit more bending near the handles from the fades out. Jawge

:D  I can't thanks you guys enough for all the help, and advise you've given me.  This is my first bow that has turned out without breaking. It is going to a friends grandson as his first bow.  We will be trying it out Saturday morning, if his happy with the draw weight I'll start to finish it with tung oil and wrap the handle with bamboo or braided cord.  I'll post a picture when I finish it.

this post may be a little too late in the evening (early morning if you wish) dont forget to shoot the bow in. 50 or so shots at 50% draw before shooting full draw, this will help get the bow used to springing forward. i broke a nice hickory static recurve skipping this step. best of luck
