Might need a bit 'o help with this one
« on: April 07, 2009, 09:14:32 pm »
It seems to me that if we want an arrow to spin in flight that some of that might be induced by the bow, not just the fletching.  With that in mind I found this wood.  I might need a little help chasing a ring on this one.  Any volunteers?   :)

......sorry.......couldn't help it.
 :) :) :)

That looks exactly like some stuff I cut down in Houston, don't know what it is though. Was thinking of making walking sticks out of it but it all checked out on me :). Chase a ring? Sure - just have to steam all that propeller out ::).

Hmm.....walking stick, eh?   Why didn't I think of that.   I thought I might make some big kitchen spoons out of it.   Just drop one in the gumbo and it would stir itself.

I just had to post this and lighten things up a little.
It would be an awesome character bow, though.

Think of it like a spring or a slinky, when you bend it, it snaps right back.  Would definately make an interesting looking character bow.

Usually around here it is Japanese honeysuckle that forms that kind of disfigured saplings. They do make good and interesting walking sticks. If you can make a viable bow out of it I can personally guarantee at least one vote for BOM   ;).

i like that eBay idea.   I don't need a walking stick (yet) and selling it will give me some cash to spend on bow stuff!!   piper
