Ash question
« on: April 06, 2009, 09:40:59 am »
I just got my hands on a nice piece of ash. I haven't debarked or split it yet. My question is, would you chase rings or do you use the area under the bark for your back? From what I can tell at this point it looks very straight and knot free. I believe I will be able to get two and possibly three bows out of this piece. Depending on how it splits.

Thanks,
Bob

Just take the bark off and that is the back of your bow..

You can chase a ring, but it's easier to do like knightd. Ash splits well and easy to control. Have fun.
