Success...first working bow
« on: March 31, 2009, 05:31:50 pm »
Well i managed to do it..sort of. She's not perfect, but its didnt break ;D Its a maple board bow 70 inches long, backed with clothe (shoulda picked a better backing) had a twin cordage handle using a peace of antler as the rest. It came up lighted then i was shooting for and has a bit of prop twist. But I am not worried about it; I'll get it right on the next one.

Very nice! Congrats on it working.  I know how ya feel, pulling it back listening and waiting for KaBoom, and then it doesn't.  Feels great doesn't it.  As for the backing, in theory, shouldn't you be able to put a fiberglass strip on to reenforce it?  The experienced bowyers here might know.  Just a thought for you.
