Mystery Wood Bow (Finished)

Here is my newest bow. It is made of a unidentified Montanan wood, It is 65" ntn and pulls 60# at 28" it is 1 1/2 inches at the fades and tapers to 1/2 inch. The nock overlays are ipe I think at least thats what I was told ::). The inlay on the handle is of purpleheart. There is no arrow rest, I prefer shooting off my hand. This is by far my favorite bow I have made it's a great shooter. The wood is great too this bow only took about 3/4 of an inch of set.

Looks great. Congratulations! The only thing I can offer for the next one is I like the bending to start at the end of the fades on most of my rigid handle bows. Jawge

#1 candidate for April Self Bow of the Month. Very nice work. Wood looks like mountain maple which can be a very nice bow wood (but not always).

Thanks everone for the compliments and thanks even more for the advice my bows would never look like this without the advice from the bowyers on this site.
George that was the one thing I didn't like about this bow. The stave had a slight deflex to it and when I was near finished I decided that it was too much and reflexed the limbs at the handle. The limbs some how became stiffer at that section, I'm guessing it was because I used dry heat, but I didn't want to lower the weight of the bow so I left it. I didn't figure it would be a big deal because the bow still took almost zero set even with that part hardly working.

I'm with Oldbow on the species, and George in that I would get it bending a bit closer to the grip, but often folks like their bows this way as well..I like the pics and nice work!.
