hazel 'warbow'

it pulls close to 90# @ 29", I tillered it to 28 and after drawing to 29 the lower limb started to take some more bend. So I'll get that top limb bending slightly more (at mid-outer limbs) and go for 30"-31", for some more warbow-like draw :)
72" ntn, 1 1/2" wide at the handle.
drawn to 29 in this pic

flat belly, slightly crowned back, probably the best shape for hazel.
I've got plans for 100# @ 32" , 76"ntn hazel bows... wish me luck :)
still 360 days till I turn 17, hopefully I'll crank even more bows this year :D

a little scraping... drawn to 30"

still unhappy with it, seeing the lower limb, being 2" shorter, bending more I'm getting more and more certain I can get this one up to 32" drawlength... if I get that upper limb bending more and better, ofcourse.

Have you shot it yet?  hows it shoot?  I wouldn't settle on the tiller until I'd sunk a good number of arrows.  It's coming along nicely (imo) but that could change a bit once a few war arrows have been let loose

Very nice job!! Well done, young man. Your tiller is very good. The bottom limb is bending perfectly, but I think maybe the top limb is just a bit stiff right at midlimb.

I agree with what the others said and I want to add that you might have to get a longer arrow before increasing your draw  ;D

Cheers,

really nice! only a 90#28 is for me an uncomfortable draw
isnt it for you?? I much more prefer to draw and hold a bow on 31-32 inch draw
then 28.

joren, being only 72"ntn I want it to bend perfectly before I draw it over 30". but indeed, that's much easier.
thanks kerbinator :) It's about 1"thick.

I've already got 2 ash and 1bbi staves in the work, for 100pounders :)

Nick, great looking warbow! I don't see much wrong with that tiller, either.  Have you backed your bow?
Good luck on your ash elb. I've made a couple but they are nowhere near 90#.
