Pyramid red oak board bow 68" nock to nock 68#@27" , 2 5/8" at widest point of the limb 1/2" wide at tips , It's a sweet shooter and as fast as my navajoII recurve .

Cool bow, Skeet. I love the pyramid profile. Stresses are evenly distributed. I made a hickory backed red oak pyramid style a few years ago. 2 1/4" to 3/8" tips. 64t/t    I let anyone and everyone shoot it to see what happens. It's takes a licking but kept on ticking.
Also, If you get caught up the stream without a paddle just use your bow.  ;D

You know, I love red oak bows.  To me, if made right, they are as good as any wood bows.  Good job.

WOW!!! I really like that bow. My son and I were looking at bows in the PA mag and he told me that he wanted to try and make a Pyramid style bow and I thought that was a great idea. Do you think with this design you could get it to pull back to 30 or 31 inches around 50 or 55 pounds? Great looking bow! Thanks for sharing with us.           Kenny

Yea, you could draw any bow 30" to 31" if you make it long enough and wide enough. With a draw length that long you must be pretty tall so you would want to make it a little longer than 68". Finding a great board to build it out of is key reading the grain I mean . Have you read TTBB ? In volume I there is great info on selecting the right board .

No I haven't read the tbb. Any of them in fact but I have read a few other bow building books. The TBB set is next on my list. :) I think from the help on this site I have found a good way to select the boards. took me alot of trial and error but I think I have it now. Does your bow taper in thickness out to the tips also or is it about the same all the way down?I really like the thin handle area on that bow.
