Jus trying to figure out why R/D bows have a little better performance. What I've come up with is that the shape promotes stiff, lever-like outter limbs. This would reduce limb vibration (little boost in efficiency, but might be taken up by the heavier outter limbs, I don't know). Either way, the reduced vibration should cushion recoil. The deflex works the same as the string follow in normal bows, which helps accuracy (don't remember why... which mght mean it doesn't). Of course, the relfex boosts speed by storing mroe energy.
I think the biggest point is the stiffened outter limbs- which would explain why even a slight R/D shape can be a good performer. Of course, the oens that do bend are jsut whip-tillered, and thefore have much lighter outter limbs, making them faster- but seeming at the cost of durability.
Of course, I have no idea. What do you all think?
