splitting some bow staves this week
« on: February 14, 2009, 10:28:57 am »
spent a full day on some osage ended up with 80 staves and 20 pair of billets, lots of really clean wood, some great staves with holes, and some super snakey staves.

    yazoo.
all that yellow wood brings a tear to my eye,not a tear from crying a tear of jealousness.

i got something similar planned for this week end, only its not hedge.
last night i drove to brainerd, thats about  and hour north of my place.i picked up 5 real nice and straight hhb logs.
ironwood a biotch to split, but i hear it makes nice bows.

i always wanted a harley, untill it became the "thing to ride"
i ride because i love to,not to be part of the crowd

Good job yazoo, me and my son Jordan split and debarked 30 last week. I'm on the prowl for more. I decided that I was way too short on my stash and that if I did'n t do something about it this year, than next year I would be in the same situation. Seems like if I start out with 20 I end up giving a way a few and selling a few and making or breaking a few bows and before you know it I'm out so I decided I'm gonna overload this year and try and keep it that way. I got a  little system going now so we shall see how it all goes. Its alot of work thats for sure.   Danny

I'm working on a stave right now that I got from your Dad at Hickory last year. I actually got 3 staves from the one I bought. ;D  Very nice wood! ;)

Wish I had OSAGE by my place. Not a piece to be had. What a great hall. I can see many nice bows laying there.
