Hickory backed Ipe-Elb

Ipe with Hickorybacking
Lower "english-longbow-cross-section".
Glued without any reflex - a straight and simple design.

Tips from Goncalo alves (Tigerwood, Astronium fraxinifolium / Astronium fraxinifacium)
Arrow pass from Tagua-Nut.

Length NtN 179cm - 70 1/2''
Width in the middle 2,9cm - 1 9/64''
Width at the tips Tips 1cm - 25/64''
55 lb / 27''

OK, that is by far the PRETTIEST tiller i have seen here yet.  Those curves are just "sexy", no other way to say it.  Nice work overall, great handle and tip facings.  At this length I am guessing it pulls and shoots smooth.  I think many of us are striving to make bows like this. 

Tell us what glue you applied the Hickory with?  Thickness of the backing?  Thickness of the bow near the fades and at the tips before the facings? 

How much has it been shot?  Length of arrows?

To answer a few questions:

The glue I used is Bindan Propellerleim, a german one. I think it corresponds to your Tidebond III.

The thickness of the backing is 15/64'' (6mm) over the whole length. This is one thing I would change, if I would repeat it -  thinner hickorybacking (about 4mm).
Or a bamboobacking and a little perry-reflex, if your hunting after higher performance.

The thickness of the bow near the fades is 3/4'' (19mm) and 7/16'' (11mm) at the tips.

Me and two friends shot the bow several times during the final stage of the tillering, including cloud shooting - I guess it is shot about 300 times altogether.

The length of my arrows is about 31 1/2'' (80cm) (My personally draw-length is about 27'' but I prefer a little longer arrows. I have no special arrows for every bow, but several sets of arrows with different spine. And most of the time I uses bamboo-arrows. The spine isn't as importend as the weight if using bamboo.)

Very nice bow. I love the color contrast and the detail work on the tips is great. The handle wrap really makes that a very fine looking bow. Congratulations.   Keenan
