sanding between sinew layers

Yesterday I put a sinew backing on an osage bow.  I' d like to add at least one more layer of sinew.  My question is should I sand this layer before i add another, and how long should I let the layers dry before I add more?

IMO, it doesn't matter either way.  Most people don't sand the sinew between layers (but it wouldn't harm anything) and it doesn't matter too much how long you wait between layers.  I've waited weeks between layers and I've also waited a few hours....and the results are pretty much the same, as far as I can tell.  I'm sure others will chime in.

The only difference I have with waiting longer is that the Sinew Shrinks up more....and you can see better if you have any Gaps to fill with the Next layer....and I always sand mine between layers to knock down the High spots....but it don't matter to the Sinew either way

Thanks for the help.  I think I'll sand down any high spots a little.  The sinew is really drying fast, it must be the dry winter air.

Hi,  I usually sand some of the high spots down too.  But, at least one author I've read recently takes great care to avoid handling the bow between layers, to minimize oils and dirt from affecting adhesion between layers.    Ron
