thanks, i too cut a stave of beech for a bow but it's merely 1 1/2 inch thick so no arrows out of that one and no bow either i think.

What pert of New Jersey are you in? I live in Poconos in Stroudsburg. If you want You could Go out with me and my son when we go gathering. I have a big hickory 40 ft tall needs to be cut from neighbors yard to keep debris out of thier pool. Could sure use some help. I also have many books on bowmaking not so many on flintknapping but your welcome to check them out. Anyway just an idea. Will be awhile before I'm able to cut tree.  I have wild rose growing in my yard everywhere need to be cut anway your welcome to them, cut your own. just pm. me
