12-16-08

the spidery stuff is a tad harder to thin, requires a bigger platform.....novaculite appears to be a form of fine-grained quartzite unless I am mistaken....

Another nice one Pete! Your knapping skills are coming right along. I've got some novac like that, it all seems to work about the same to me.

Well, if it had that dandy parallel flaking, it would be an Eden...part of the Scottsbluff family. I just sorta hacked that one out, I got part of the flakes right, here's the Perino book.....

I was thinking Scottsbluff for some reason but don't have my book to look it up - just can't seem to memorize every one of em ::).

Pete what you dont see in that book is the cross section..  to get those flacks you need a very even convex cross section..
 Well not all the time, it just makes it alot easer
I think most of those points were thick.

  Regardless your doin some awsome work!!!

     Awesome indeed!  I think they would have needed to be thick, if they we 8)re used as a knife, or spear, or atlatl point.
