It was about 28 degrees this morning in east Texas .I got to stand early because I saw a good buck last evening,and hoped he might still be around.About 7:30,a nice fat 8 point came by,stopped in a hole at 20 yards,and just as I was about to act,I heard a deer grunt behind me.Thinkin' he would see me ,I held still.When he got around enough to see him,it was this fella.They checked out a scrape,that was 15 yards from me,but ,behind a cedar tree.I was fine till 7:45,then the cold sank in.I started shaking like a leaf,just knowing one of the bucks would look up and see my switchcane arrow bobbing up and down like the needle on a geiger counter.The smaller 8 started easing off,and the big one turned my way,browsing a little..He came around the cedar tree,and stopped facing me at 13 yards.The other deer turned away from me,so I turned to my right,still seated.He kept me waitin' till 8:00,then I saw his left foot step out and back.He came broadside,and I leaned out ,drew and released.The bandsaw trade point did it's job,and he was down in 40 yards,heart shot.I took him with "She's got legs",the snake backed osage I posted a few months ago.Here's a couple of pictures;
